The Firm’s managing and founding partner is Jose P. Font, Esq., and over the course of his thirteen-year career he has been recognized four separate times by Super Lawyers (only 2.5% of the top-rated lawyers receive the yearly recognition), which is an independent and well recognized organization in the legal community that distinguishes the quality of lawyers by way of peer reviews and their independent research of a lawyer’s practice. Mr. Font was also awarded “The Attorney of Year“ in 2015 by FIFEC, which has been in existence for more than a quarter century and has over 1,000 attendees at its yearly seminar.
Although born in Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Font grew up in South Florida and graduated from Dade Christian. He then graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University, was given a scholarship by St. Thomas University, where he participated in the accelerated program and graduated Valedictorian in 2003.
For over a decade, Mr. Font focused his practice on consulting and representing some of the largest corporations and insurers in the Country. However, currently, he has guided the Firm’s practice to representing individuals and entities who are in need of legal representation as it relates to their pending insurance claims or various other types of legal disputes.
Mr. Font has served as lead trial and/or appellate counsel on over 3,500 insurance claim disputes, and has also developed expertise in wrongful death cases, personal injury cases, PIP cases, contract disputes, and commercial transaction disputes. In addition to serving individual insureds’ interests, he also protects the widespread interests of insureds throughout the State by way of class action and â€œbad faithâ€ suits that focus on deterring the systemic misconduct of insurance companies.
Prior to serving as the founding and managing partner of Font & Nelson, for over decade Mr. Font worked at Vernis & Bowling, which is one of the largest, most reputable and established Firms in the State of Florida. Mr. Font held the role as a managing attorney of one of the largest divisions of the Firm, and for nearly a decade has worked alongside with Frantz Nelson, Esq., who is the co-founding partner of Font & Nelson.
Frantz is one of the founding partners of the Font & Nelson Law Group. He was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. Upon completion of high school, he attended the University of the West Indies for undergraduate studies. There he obtained a bachelors in arts with a major in English literature and a minor in Caribbean and European history. He then moved to the United States to pursue his legal career. He attended Nova Southeastern University, where he received a Juris Doctorate in 2006. Upon completion of his legal studies, Frantz sat for and successfully completed the Florida Bar Examination, at which time he was approached to become a member of the Florida Board of Bar Examiners to assist in grading bar examination essay questions for potential bar members. This gracious offer was accepted, and Frantz worked with the Board of Bar Examiners in 2007. After working with the Florida Bar as a bar examiner, Frantz began work as an Ad-Junct Professor at Nova Southeastern University, in its’ critical skills program, where he assisted law school students in their preparation for the Florida Bar Examination.
In 2007 Frantz began his practice of law, focusing primarily in the areas of civil litigation and insurance defense, working with clients such as MGA Insurance Company, United Automobile Insurance Company and State Farm Insurance Company. His primary area of practice was the defense of personal injury protection claims. Since that time, he has amassed a wealth of experience handling uninsured motorist claims, bodily injury claims and homeowners’ insurance claims. While working as a defense attorney, Frantz dealt with all forms of insurance claims, and for several years specialized in complex litigation and SIU claims. His experience includes the handling of lawsuits from inception through trial, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, mediation, arbitrations, court hearings, and every other conceivable event.
Frantz prides himself on upholding the highest degree of ethics and professionalism in serving every client. His knowledge and experience in representing various insurance carriers for over a decade, combined with his determination and attention to detail, allows him to navigate the complexities of litigation, as he now represents insureds and ultimately strives to obtain the best possible outcome for his clients.
Mr. Thomas earned his Juris Doctor at St. Thomas University School of Law, where he concentrated in the areas of litigation and trial advocacy He has focused his advocacy to ensure Plaintiffs get full representation against insurance companies. He understands all clients deserve personal attention and strives to keep his clients well informed throughout every stage of the litigation process.
Before attending law school, Mr. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science degree, from the University of South Florida, with a major in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of South Florida. He worked for several years ensuring all his clients from multinational companies to family-owned businesses abided by both Federal and State Requirements in the areas of environmental monitoring, contamination and remediation to name a few.
Simone’s practice areas include Insurance, Real-Estate, and Litigation. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Kingston Jamaica, she graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and thereafter moved to Atlanta, GA where she obtained her GA license to practice. Thereafter, she returned to Florida and once again sat for the State Bar Exam, earning her Florida license in 2011.

Paul V. Dent III is a native Floridian, born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Paul graduated from Florida State University earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology & Psychology. Later, Paul graduated from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he earned his Juris Doctor with cum laude honors distinction. While attending Shepard Broad College of Law, Paul was actively involved with four Honor Organizations. Paul was Executive Editor of Nova Law Review, an advocate for Moot Court, an advocate for Nova Trial Association, and a member of the Pro Bono Honor Program Gold Distinction for contributing over 300 hours of pro bono services during his law school career.
Paul now focuses his area of practice representing plaintiffs in residential and commercial First Party Property claims against insurance carriers.

Yisroel Silverman is an associate attorney at Font & Nelson focusing on representing plaintiffs against insurance carriers in coverage and bad faith disputes.
Mr. Silverman graduated magna cum laude in the top 10% of his graduating class from St. Thomas University School of Law, where he established himself as an award-winning student. He is a three-time recipient of the CALI Excellence Award given to the highest scoring student in a class and was a member of the Dean’s List throughout law school. While in law school, Mr. Silverman also gained legal experience in first and third-party property insurance, automobile liability, premises liability, elder law, family law, landlord/tenant disputes, and foreclosure actions.
Before attending law school, Mr. Silverman earned a Bachelor of Religious Studies from the Rabbinical College of America. He worked for several years teaching Talmudic law at the Rabbinical Yeshiva of Cincinnati and subsequently at the Yeshiva Gedolah Rabbinical College in Miami Beach, Florida.

Cathleen Rodriguez was born and raised in Miami, Florida. As the daughter of Cuban immigrants, her family instilled in her the importance of earning an education and having a strong work ethic.
In the year 2014, Cathleen earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Florida State University, with a minor in Family and Child Sciences and Psychology. Thereafter, Cathleen attended Florida Coastal School of Law. While in law school, Cathleen was an active member of the Moot Court Honor Society team and served as a Pro-Bono Director focusing her time assisting immigrants obtain their U.S. citizenship. Cathleen is a recipient of the CALI Excellence Award given to the highest scoring student in a class as well as the Pro Bono Certificate for completing over 125 hours of community legal service. Furthermore Cathleen was a Certified Legal Intern for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office advocating for domestic violence victims. Notably, Cathleen earned a judicial internship with Magistrate Judge Patrick A. White for the United State District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
As an associate attorney at Font & Nelson, Cathleen is committed to zealously representing first party individuals against insurance carriers in breach of contract and bad faith disputes.
Christopher Herrera was born and raised in Miami, Florida.
Chris attended Miami Dade College graduating with honors while earning his Associates Degree. Next, Chris graduated cum laude from Florida International University while earning his degree in Philosophy and Political Science. Immediately after, Mr. Herrera attended Saint Thomas University School of Law.
While attending law school, Mr. Herrera had the distinct honor of interning with the Honorable Ivan Fernandez at the Third District Court of Appeal as well the Honorable Marissa Tinkler Mendez of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, Criminal Division.
Upon successful completion of the Florida bar exam, Mr. Herrera began his legal career defending insurers in the context of homeowners’ insurance claims. This invaluable experience assist him in his current capacity representing Plaintiff’s in residential and commercial Property claims against insurance carriers.
Adam Friedman is an associate in the firm’s Ft. Lauderdale office who specializes in all aspects of homeowners insurance, general liability, automobile liability, personal injury protection, SIU/Fraud, and automobile insurance litigation. Adam graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Upon graduating, Adam enrolled in an accelerated program, in which he received his Master’s Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice in one year. He then attended St. Thomas University School of Law, where he was the Article Solicitation Editor of the Law Review. In his final year of law school, Adam interned for the Honorable Frank Shepherd at the Third District Court of Appeal.
Jaime Martin was born and raised in Connecticut. She graduated cum laude from Arizona State University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. After college, Mrs. Martin earned her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Miami School of Law.
Mrs. Martin has litigated contentious matters as an advocate for both the plaintiff and defendant in the areas of first and third-party property insurance, automobile liability, family law and matters involving violations of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.
While in law school, Mrs. Martin focused on public interest work primarily in the areas of consumer protection, immigration, child support disputes and disability.

Dahlene Miller-Almodovar is an associate at Font & Nelson, PLLC and focuses her practice on first-party property insurance litigation.
Born in Tampa, Florida and raised by two parents of Puerto Rican Descent, Dahlene speaks fluent Spanish. Dahlene graduated Cum Laude from Florida International University, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. Recognized for her academic excellence, Dahlene was awarded honorary membership to the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Honor Society.
Dahlene went on to pursue her legal studies and graduated from the University of Miami School of Law where she served as president of the Maritime Law Society. While in law school, Dahlene was nominated to represent the University of Miami School of Law in the John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Competition in San Francisco. She also served as secretary of the Federal Bar Association and as a legal fellow in the University of Miami’s Children and Youth Rights Clinic where she represented underprivileged children in various areas of dependency, healthcare, and immigration law. Shortly after having successfully completed the Florida Bar Examination, Dahlene graciously accepted the offer to edit the Marine Insurance Chapter for the Florida Bar’s Maritime Law and Practice Series, Sixth Edition.
Prior to joining the firm, Dahlene served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Dave Lee Brannon at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Sonya P. Randolph is originally from South Carolina and now focuses her practice on representing plaintiffs in residential and commercial First Party Property claims against insurance carriers.
Ms. Randolph graduated cum laude from University of Miami School of Law earning her Juris Doctor degree. Ms. Randolph earner her post-graduate Latin Legum Magister degree, referred to as a Master of Laws or LL.M., in International Arbitration from the University of Miami studying under some of the most renowned arbitration authors and arbitrators in the world. Ms. Randolph earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Miami.
While in law school and in pursuit of her LL.M., Ms. Randolph gained arbitration experience in foreign direct investment and litigation experience in civil litigation, criminal defense, and child advocacy. During law school, Ms. Randolph was a recipient of the academic-based Soia Mentschikoff scholarship as well as the Miami Scholars Public Interest Program. Ms. Randolph was the recipient of the Dean’s Certificate of Achievement for her work in the Children and Youth Law Program at the University of Miami.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Randolph served in the United States Air Force. While serving, she was awarded the John L. Levitow Leadership Award, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, among others, and recognized for her outstanding performance as an Airman and Non-Commissioned Officer through quarterly and annual awards.
